Dynamic Packet Size Mechanism (DPSM) for Multimedia in Wireless networks

چکیده

Due to the characteristics of mobile networks such as low speed, high error bit rate, variable link throughput etc, the applications over the wireless channel face with many challenging problems, especially multimedia applications, where the volume of data is huge. Without a suitable control, the Quality of Service (QoS) of such applications is adversely affected and the connection quality may become unacceptable. In this paper, we propose a dynamic Packet size mechanism(DPSM) adapting with a rate control proactive protocol at the base station of the wireless network. We argue that adaptation is necessary in a changing environment where static configuration of error control does not yield the best performance for many situations.
